quoteMany of our delegates have attended the CIPFA Audit Conference for a number of years, making them a very discerning and often hard-to-please audience. James’ session on the challenges facing heads of internal audit today was described by many attendees as one of the best of the conference, particularly in terms of relevance and focus.

  • Preparing for an External Quality Assessment (EQA)

There is a requirement for IA functions to have an external quality review every 5 years and IIA studies show that IA functions can often be “caught out” by the findings, not always in obvious areas. This can adversely affect the reputation of the IA function with key stakeholders. Learn about the key challenges and how to turn this process into a positive experience, understanding warning signs around the selection an EQA provider (in terms of cost and attitude) as well as the best ways to prepare.

    Who should attend?

Experienced auditors or more senior audit managers / heads of auditors who play a role in ensuring that the audit department receives a satisfactory external quality assessment.

    What will I learn?
Upon completion you will be able to:

    • Understand key headlines from the up-dated IIA IPPF 2017
    • Understand how an EQA process works
    • Learn how best to select your EQA provider and key pitfalls to manage
    • Understand key areas that an EQA often finds
    • Understand good practices around an ongoing quality assurance and improvement programme
    • Consider the status of your own IA team and develop priority areas for further week

    Duration: 1 day
